A Christmas gift idea might already be sitting on your phone. That photo of a much-loved dog looking up at you, a cat in their favourite spot, or a horse beside the person who knows them best can become the starting point for a hand-painted watercolour portrait. You do not need to arrange a formal photo shoot to choose something meaningful.
The photograph you keep coming back to
Scroll through your camera roll and look for the picture that makes you smile. A clear, well-lit image helps me see the features that make the pet recognisable, but the feeling behind your choice matters too. That familiar pose can turn a Christmas present into a keepsake.
For the dog lover
A dog portrait can be a surprise for a partner, parent or friend whose phone is full of their four-legged companion. Choose a picture that shows their dog's expression, not just their breed.
For someone whose cat runs the house
Cat portraits make equally personal Christmas gifts. A direct stare or a relaxed stretch may be exactly the moment their owner would choose to remember.
A horse portrait with a personal connection
For a horse lover, you might choose a favourite photo of the horse alone or one that shows them together. Both can make a thoughtful gift when the relationship is the heart of the picture.
Commission a portrait from your photo
I paint original watercolour portraits from customer photographs for pet lovers in the North East and across the UK. If the artwork is for Christmas, choose a picture you love and check the current ordering and delivery information on the portrait listing before placing your order; I am not promising a particular Christmas delivery date here.
