Dogs rarely sit still for the perfect photograph, but sometimes an ordinary picture catches the exact look you love. I paint original dog watercolour portraits by hand from customers' photos. For dog owners in Chester-le-Street, that familiar face can become something you see every day on your wall.
Start with the photo you already love
Look through the dog photos tucked away on your phone. The best reference might be their attentive face, the way they rest beside you or a favourite moment outdoors. Pick the image that makes you recognise your dog immediately, upload it and give that memory room to shine as a painting on your wall.
A clear, well-lit photo helps me see the shape of their face and the markings that matter. It does not need to be a formal portrait. A candid picture can have more personality than a posed one.
A gift for the person who knows that dog best
A birthday or Christmas present can start with a photograph you have already taken. A dog portrait can also mark an anniversary, a new home or a heartfelt thank-you. Instead of another dog-themed object, it shows the recipient the particular companion they love.
I paint the artwork with watercolour by hand. The reference photo guides the expression and features, while the finished piece is an original painting, not a printed photograph.
